- Program Facilitator Temporary Full-Time (Maternity Leave)
- St. Leonard’s is seeking a Program Facilitator commencing approximately June 17/24 or sooner. It is the role of a program facilitator to provide evidence based or evidence informed programs to referred youth to increase knowledge, improve social and cognitive skills, and develop problem-solving and decision-making abilities, as a part of a Probation Order or as ordered by the courts. Facilitators are also responsible for all case-management duties and program development.

- Stemming from the amalgamation of two long standing organizations in 2020, St. Leonard’s Community Support, Prevention and Residential Services (SLCSPRS) continues to provide a broad spectrum of care from prevention to intervention within Hastings and Prince Edward Counties. We aspire to assist and enable youth and young adults who are, or at risk of being, in conflict with the law to build their life skills, increase their understanding and empathy, and to restore their self confidence and self-worth though effective, responsive, and accessible programs. Our staff work to support youth development to help them grow into the best versions of themselves. Our key programs include Youthreach, Extrajudicial Measures, Extrajudicial Sanctions, Youth Justice Committee, Attendance Centre, Reintegration Support, and Detention and Custody (males aged 12-17 years).
- Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate client intake and complete program planning.
- Facilitate evidenced-based or evidence-informed programming, either one-to-one or in groups, for youth to develop skills,
address offending behaviour, reduce risk/needs and fulfil program goals.
- Ensure the completion of all reports in a timely fashion and uphold accountability system, through accurate and detailed case
notes and daily documentation.
- Maintain client files: manage the storage, disclosure and destruction of confidential client material and records.
- Report any serious occurrence.
- Liaise with youth’s parents/guardians, community agencies and referring agent as needed, and to advocate for the youth.
Qualifications
- Qualifications and skill requirements obtained through a combination of having a diploma or degree in a relevant field of study
and a minimum of five years experience of working with at risk youth.
- Excellent knowledge of the Youth Justice Sector, including applications of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, community
resources and youth justice services, and an understanding of the principles of Restorative Justice and diversion
- Ability to effectively address risk/needs of youth.
- Excellent oral, written and listening communication skills.
- General office procedures including a working knowledge of Office 365 and EMHware.
- Willing to work flexible hours.
- Experience facilitating programs for youth to develop positive decision-making skills and increase pro-social behaviours.
- Ability to assess client’s needs, track progress, and complete reports.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- All agency employment standards/requirements (e.g., training, VSC, etc.) completed and on file.
- Wage: $27.71
